Providing excellent grip, dexterity and overall comfort, coated gloves offer one of the best, most cost-effective solutions for hand protection. Seth offers one of the largest selections of coated gloves for a wide variety of general purpose applications.
Types of Coating Material:
• Polyurethane (PU) – When used as a coating, polyurethane delivers excellent grip, puncture and abrasion resistance while providing protection against oils, fats, and greases. Because it is soft and flexible and can be applied in very thin coats, polyurethane allows for excellent dexterity and tactile sensitivity. Polyurethane coated gloves are not recommended for use with hot water.
• Nitrile (NBR) –Nitrile rubber offers excellent resistance to punctures, snags, abrasions and cuts while delivering good protection against oils, greases, animal fats, bases and many solvents. As a glove coating, nitrile rubber can be applied in a standard form or it can be foamed allowing it to act as a sponge.
When in contact with oily surfaces, foam nitrile will soak up the oil and provide improved grip. Compared to natural rubber, nitrile offers better puncture resistance and better protection to oils and acids and is an excellent alternative for individuals with latex allergies. Nitrile coated gloves are not recommended for use with ketones and some organic solvents.
• Natural Rubber Latex – Flexible and waterproof, natural rubber latex glove coatings provide excellent grip, resistance to tears and extreme temperatures and provide protection against alcohols and some ketones. Latex coated gloves are not recommended for use with hydrocarbon and organic solvents, including gasoline. Caution: products containing natural rubber latex may cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
• Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) – One of the most cost-effective glove coatings available, PVC (also often referred to as vinyl or simply plastic) offers good abrasion protection, flexibility in cold temperatures and excellent resistance to resins and glues. PVC also holds up well in the presence of water and most aqueous solutions, detergents, and diluted bases and acids. Compared with other coatings, PVC can be more susceptible to punctures, cuts, and snags and has limited resistance to organic solvents.
